Ambition

Viktor F. Yanukovych was the President of Ukraine. He was driven out of the country 3 months ago and his luxurious estate has now been opened to the public. The Mezhyhirya as it is known is just north of Kiev, the capital city of the country. The public were not immediately worried about the value of what was on the inside and what they might take, but most looked and walk about the gardens and buildings with respect and fascination. Many were intrigued to know just how their former president had been living while the country was crumbling. The estate is now property of the state according to the Ukrainian Parliament.

I think that Mr. Yanukovych has taken his ambition too far. He lived with cars, animals, art, and icons galore while the people of his country were in turmoil. The man had his own private petting zoo, a large personal river boat with crystal decor,  and gardens the size of parks. When do you say, "I am happy with what I have. Now it is time to pay attention to the people I am supposed to be working for." I don't think that Mr. Yanukovych would have been happy until he had everything that he could obtain, and then he still would have wanted more. I think that it is horrible to be so focused on what you want to do that you forget who you are supposed to be helping. I think drive is good but being too ambitious is definitely a bad thing.
